Family-Friendly Events Happening in NJ in June 2017
Does your family have anything truly fun planned this summer? Don’t wait until the last minute to plan an expensive family vacation that doesn’t get the whole family excited. Day and weekend trips might be the perfect solution to your kids’ perpetual boredom. There’s a ton of family-friendly things to do in New Jersey this month, so let’s get started!
- What: East Brunswick Arts Festival Farmer’s Market & Food Truck Event
When: June 3 @ 10-6pm
Where: Municipal Pond, East Brunswick Municipal Complex, East Brunswick, NJ
This beautiful display of artwork, also available for sale, is the perfect way to spend an afternoon with the family.
Fine art and handmade crafts may steal the show, but there’s also plenty of fun kids’ activities, as well as food
trucks, music, and more. Bring the whole family to get outside and enjoy some art!
- What: Rockability
When: June 3 @ 10-5pm
Where: Historic Smithville, Smithville, NJ
This all-day event is a tribute to the 50s in every way! Live music, pin-up contests, prizes, and vendors of all sorts will be a
great source of entertainment that the whole family can enjoy. The weekend is also jam-packed with over 60 shops, eateries,
a carousel and train ride, and plenty of other free events! Admission is free, and lodging is available at the nearby Colonial
Inn.
- What: The Mythbusters at Liberty Science Center
When: Now thru Sept. 4
Where: The Liberty Science Center, Jersey City, NJ
The Mythbusters crew is setting out to answer some of your most burning questions that start with “Can you really…”
Through scientific observation and carefully-planned experiments, the crew will delve into some really interesting topics with
live demonstration. There will also be an airplane made entirely of duct tape, and some other out-of-this-world attractions
kids will love! Tickets are available online here.
- What: National Trails Day
When: June 3 @ 10-2pm
Where: The New Weis Center, Ringwood, NJ
Get the whole family outside and enjoying nature on National Trails Day! Celebrate the occasion by going on a guided hike in
a safe and fun state park. Hikes of various lengths and difficulties will be offered, and you can even bring your dog on a leash!
The event and parking are both free, though donations are accepted to keep the program running.
- What: Riverfest
When: June 2-4 @ 11am
Where: Navesink River, Red Bank, NJ
Riverfest is a three-day long event, complete with music, art, and river cruises. In addition to a vendor marketplace, there will
also be lots to keep the kids busy—children’s attractions, games, activities, and nonstop rides! This is the perfect option for a
warm summer day when the whole family needs to cool off.
- What: Scouts Weekend
When: June 3-4 @ 10:30-6pm
Where: Wild West City, Stanhope, NJ
New Jersey is bringing back the wild, wild west! This western heritage-themed park is jam-packed with live-action shows,
pony rides, and a bunch of other activities that any little cowgirl or cowboy would love. Plus, the event has activities and
exhibits that are friendly for teens as well! The entire park is a recreation of Kansas’s Dodge City circa 1880.
- What: Spring Wine & Music Festival
When: June 3 @ 12-6pm
Where: Ringoes, NJ
The 24th annual Spring Wine & Music Festival is a family-friendly festival filled with wine, food, music, and lots of vendors.
Plenty of food trucks, winery tours, kids’ activities, and crafts will be available. Tickets are only $10-20 and the whole family
is welcome!
- What: The Magic of Sharks
When: June 3
Where: Emerson Public Library, Emerson, NJ
New Jersey Magician Steve Woyce makes a splash with this shark-themed comedy magic show that is truly entertaining for
the whole family. Ocean lovers will have a blast learning, laughing about, and marveling over these sea creatures. The event is
free and open to all ages!
Every family could use some quality time together, and there are no shortage of family-friendly events that kids, teens, and adults of all ages will love. Whether you enjoy getting outside and getting a bit muddy, or appreciating the local art scene, or even attending a splash-tastic magic show, there are plenty of things to do in New Jersey!
